A single-storey residence for a family of five, the Laz House is an exercise in balance and subtlety to match its idyllic location. The humble approach for the house is exemplified by its façade that builds anticipation and funnels visitors in, the lines forming the driveway and climbing to create an overhang that visually leads toward the main door. The program is divided into a public wing for the living and dining areas, and a private wing for the bedrooms that open vistas to the surrounding nature. The client’s vast collection of tanguile and narra was used extensively for exterior cladding and for walls and floors, creating a medley of wood and concrete that grants the house the rawness of a naturally formed structure.
